A Knight’s Chain Armour

Epic Armoury's Riveted Chainmail Hood is a flexible and lightweight mail armour coif made from linked aluminum rings. The mail covers the head, neck and shoulders. Each riveted ring interlocks with four other rings in a 4-in-1 design, ideal for protection against both slashing and stabbing. Riveted mail, unlike the butted variety, requires less maintenance since each link is welded together. This is the way historical mail would have been crafted during the middle ages--but at a fraction of the weight! The aluminum makes this hood far more comfortable to wear at your LARP than the steel alternative.

This Chainmail Hood is mail great for heavy medieval infantry and sergeants, as well as early knights. Wear it over one of our undercaps and add a Crusader, Norman or Spangen helmet on top for the most comfort and authentic wear. Pair this armour with additional Epic Armoury metal works and clothing to fit your character’s needs.

Inspired by Medieval History

  • One of the oldest types of armour in the world, still used today in modern protective technologies to protect against slashing
  • Introduced in the 4th century B.C. around the famous battle between the Greeks and Persians at Thermopylae
  • Popular in Roman and early medieval ages by infantry and early knights

  • Made from aluminum
  • Riveted rings are welded shut, making it more unlikely for links to come undone
  • Hand made, welded pieces for maximum durability

Epic Armoury aluminum products require little maintenance, but there is the potential for discoloration over time. Keep your product in dry storage.

If your armour does get wet, it is important that you dry it thoroughly as soon as possible.

After handling, wearing, or after six months of storage or display, all metal should be wiped with a clean cloth. Lightly oil the clean surface with a silver polish, or mild, nonabrasive cleaner.
